What Is Lock Change?
A lock change means removing your existing lock hardware and replacing it with a completely new lock. Unlike rekeying — which modifies the internal pins while keeping the same hardware — a lock change swaps out the entire unit.
It's the right call when your lock is damaged, worn, or compromised, or when you want to upgrade to a higher-security or smart lock. Most residential lock changes take 20–45 minutes per door.
What our lock change service includes?
Deadbolt replacement — Single-cylinder and double-cylinder deadbolts for front, back, and side doors
Knob and lever lock replacement — Interior and exterior door hardware for all residential door types
Smart lock installation — Keypad, fingerprint, and app-connected lock upgrades
Lock brand upgrades — Schlage, Kwikset, Baldwin, and other trusted brands available
New keys cut on-site — You receive working keys immediately at the end of the job
Hardware disposal — We remove and take away your old lock hardware
Should You Change or Rekey Your Locks?
Rekey if:
You just moved into a new home or apartment
You lost your keys or had them stolen
A contractor, cleaner, or previous tenant has a copy
A roommate or employee with access has left
Your locks are in good working condition
Change if:
Your locks are damaged, sticking, or worn out
You want to upgrade to smart locks or a high-security system
The lock brand is outdated and you want something better
Bottom line: If your locks are in good condition, rekeying gives you the same security as replacement — at a fraction of the cost.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Rekeying changes the internal pins of your existing lock so old keys no longer work — your lock hardware stays the same. A lock change replaces the entire lock with new hardware. Rekeying is faster and less expensive; a lock change is the better option when the lock is damaged, low-quality, or you want to upgrade to a smarter or more secure model.
-
Most lock changes take 20 to 45 minutes per door. The exact time depends on the lock type, the door hardware already in place, and whether any adjustments are needed to the strike plate or door frame.
-
Not at all. You can change one lock or all of them — the choice is yours. You can even change some locks and rekey others.
-
We work with all major residential lock brands, including Schlage, Kwikset, and Baldwin. If you already have a preferred brand or model in mind, let us know when you call and we'll confirm availability.
