What Is a Multipoint Lock?
If your French door or hinged patio door locks at the top, middle and bottom when you lift the handle, it has a multipoint lock. Most people just call it a door lock, but it works differently from a regular deadbolt: one handle and one key move bolts or hooks into the frame at several points at once. You'll find multipoint locks on Pella and Andersen doors, on doors fitted with Hoppe hardware, and on many front entry doors. Many sliding patio doors use a simpler single-point lock instead. We work on both: we repair the lock when it can be fixed, replace it or install a new one when it can't, and rekey it when you need old keys to stop working.
