What Is Lock Installation?
Lock installation covers two situations: adding a brand-new lock to a door that has never had one, and replacing existing hardware with a different lock — whether the old one is damaged, outdated, or simply not the right fit for the door.
In both cases, the job involves physically mounting the hardware, verifying alignment with the door frame and strike plate, and confirming the lock operates correctly before we leave. For doors with no existing bore holes, we drill and chisel the cutouts on-site.
A proper installation ensures the lock functions as intended and that the door resists forced entry. Most jobs take 20–45 minutes per door.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most deadbolt and knob lock installations take 20 to 45 minutes per door. If the door has no existing bore holes and requires drilling, or if you're installing a multi-point lock on a French or patio door, plan for 45 to 60 minutes. Smart locks may take slightly longer depending on the model.
-
Yes. We bring the tools to drill and chisel the necessary cutouts on-site. We'll also install and reinforce the strike plate if needed. Just let us know when you call so we can bring the right equipment for your door material.
-
Yes. If you've already purchased a lock, we can install it — just have it ready when we arrive. If you'd prefer us to bring one, ask about available options when you call and we'll let you know what we have that fits your door.
-
Lock installation is for doors that have no lock at all — we add the hardware from scratch, drilling new bore holes if the door doesn't have them. A lock change is for doors that already have a lock or an existing hole: we remove what's there and swap it out for a new one. If you're not sure which situation you have, give us a call and we'll help you figure it out before we come out.
